1. Purpose
This Driver Operations Manual establishes the operational standards, responsibilities and
expectations for all independent delivery drivers using the Culturei Deliveries platform.
The purpose of this manual is to promote professionalism, safety, reliability and excellent
customer service while ensuring that deliveries are completed efficiently and in accordance
with the policies of Culturei Deliveries.
Independent delivery drivers are independent contractors and are not employees of Culturei
Deliveries unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. Driver Eligibility
To deliver using the Culturei Deliveries platform, every driver must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Hold a valid South African driver's licence appropriate for the vehicle being used.
- Provide a valid South African Identity Document, Smart ID Card or Passport (where applicable).
- Provide proof of address when requested.
- Operate a roadworthy and legally registered vehicle.
- Maintain valid vehicle licence documentation.
- Carry any insurance required by law.
- Successfully complete the Culturei Deliveries onboarding process.
- Accept the Culturei Deliveries Driver Agreement.
Culturei Deliveries may request updated documentation at any time to verify continued eligibility.
3. Driver Onboarding
Before gaining access to the platform, drivers may be required to:
- Complete identity verification.
- Submit all required documents.
- Attend an onboarding session or complete online training.
- Read and accept all applicable company policies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of delivery procedures and customer service expectations.
Activation of a driver account remains at the sole discretion of Culturei Deliveries.
4. Professional Conduct
Drivers are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times.
Drivers must:
- Treat customers, restaurant staff and Culturei Deliveries personnel with courtesy and respect.
- Use professional language.
- Maintain good personal hygiene.
- Wear clean and presentable clothing while making deliveries.
- Handle all customer property with care.
- Protect the reputation of Culturei Deliveries.
Drivers must not:
- Use abusive, threatening or discriminatory language.
- Harass customers or restaurant staff.
- Consume alcohol or illegal drugs while using the platform.
- Smoke or vape while handling customer orders.
- Request additional cash or personal payments outside the platform without authorisation.
- Share customer information with any unauthorised person.
5. Delivery Standards
Drivers are expected to:
- Accept delivery requests only when they are able to complete them.
- Travel to restaurants promptly.
- Verify the correct order before leaving the restaurant.
- Transport food carefully to maintain quality.
- Deliver orders as quickly and safely as reasonably possible.
- Confirm successful delivery through the platform.
- Report any delivery issues immediately.
Drivers should never intentionally delay deliveries.
6. Food Safety
Drivers play an important role in protecting food quality.
Drivers must:
- Keep food upright during transport where practical.
- Avoid unnecessary handling of food packaging.
- Never open sealed food containers.
- Keep delivery bags reasonably clean.
- Protect food from excessive heat, rain or contamination.
Drivers are not permitted to alter, consume or tamper with customer orders.
7. Customer Service
Drivers represent the Culturei Deliveries brand during every delivery.
Drivers should:
- Greet customers politely.
- Confirm the customer's name before handing over the order.
- Handle complaints calmly and professionally.
- Refer payment or refund enquiries to Culturei Deliveries Customer Support.
- Respect customer privacy.
Drivers must never argue with customers.
8. Safety
Safety takes priority over delivery speed.
Drivers must:
- Obey all South African road traffic laws.
- Never drive recklessly.
- Avoid using a mobile phone while driving unless permitted by law through a hands-free device.
- Wear any legally required safety equipment.
- Park legally and safely.
- Report accidents immediately.
No delivery is more important than the safety of any person.
9. Earnings and Weekly Payouts
Drivers earn delivery fees in accordance with the applicable fee structure communicated by Culturei Deliveries.
Driver earnings:
- Are calculated based on completed deliveries.
- May include incentives or promotional bonuses where applicable.
- Are paid through the scheduled weekly payout process, subject to verification and any lawful deductions or adjustments.
Drivers are responsible for complying with their own tax obligations where applicable.
10. Account Suspension
Culturei Deliveries may temporarily suspend a driver's access to the platform where necessary.
Reasons may include:
- Expired documentation.
- Customer safety concerns.
- Fraud investigations.
- Repeated service failures.
- Serious complaints.
- Unsafe driving behaviour.
- Breaches of this Driver Operations Manual.
Where reasonably possible, drivers will be informed of the reason for suspension and given an opportunity to respond.
11. Termination of Platform Access
Culturei Deliveries reserves the right to permanently deactivate a driver's account where there has been a serious or repeated breach of company policies or applicable law.
Examples include:
- Fraud or theft.
- Violence or threats of violence.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Deliberate damage to customer or restaurant property.
- Repeated dishonesty.
- Repeated failure to meet minimum service standards.
- Criminal conduct connected to use of the platform.
Where appropriate, Culturei Deliveries may report unlawful conduct to the relevant authorities.
12. Confidentiality
Drivers must keep confidential all non-public information obtained through the Culturei Deliveries
platform, including customer details, restaurant information and operational procedures.
Customer information may only be used for the purpose of completing the assigned delivery.
13. Acknowledgement
By registering and using the Culturei Deliveries platform, independent delivery drivers acknowledge
that they have read, understood and agree to comply with this Driver Operations Manual and all other
applicable Culturei Deliveries policies.
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in suspension or permanent removal from the platform.
